2013 Oracle Campus Tour & Computer Programming Workshop for Kids
Oracle is hosting a one-day Make the Future Java workshops for children ages 13 and up. The event is free, but space is limited. Taleem Initiative has reserved 24 seats for the event, so registration will be first come, first served.
Program Details:
- Make The Future Java Alice Workshops: Taught by Oracle Academy instructors and Carnegie Mellon computer science professors, the one-day beginner workshop will use the award-winning Alice visual 3-D educational tool. With a drag-and-drop interface, Alice is designed to help students learn the Java programming language by creating animations and games. Download and view Alice screencasts.
- Tour of Oracle Headquarters: Taleem Initiative’s students will get to tour the Oracle campus. The picturess campus located in Redwood Shores employees over 7,000 people (see pictures here). Students will also meet engineers from Oracle.
- Much More: Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided. You will go home with free Oracle gear. Don’t miss this event!!
Time: Wednesday, July 31st, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Oracle Conference Center, 350 Oracle Parkway, Redwood Shores, CA
Eligibility: Children ages 13 and up.
Pre-requisites: None. No prior programming experience or laptop necessary. A laptop and all required tools will be provided.
